1. What do you understand by styles in context of the word processor?
Answer: A Style is a set of formatting characteristics such as font type, size, color, paragraph alignment and spacing etc. that you can apply in a single step to any text of a document or to the entire document.
2. Differentiate between Paragraph styles and character styles.
Answer:
Character Style: Character style contains settings that specify the formatting of characters, such as the font type, font size, underlining, bold formatting, italic formatting, text color , borders, and shading.
Paragraph Style: A paragraph style contains settings that specify the formatting of paragraphs, such as text alignment, tab stops, indentation, line spacing, borders etc.
3. How will you apply styles to a paragraph from the styles task pane?
Answer: Apply styles to a paragraph follow the steps:
1. Select the paragraph on which you want to apply styles.
2. Select the Home tab and click on paragraph style.
3. Click on the style that you want to apply.
4. How will you import a style from a word template or document?
Answer: To import a style from a word template follow the steps:
1. Click the Home tab
2. Open styles pane
3. Click the manage styles button.
4. Click import/export .
5. Select a style.
6. Click the copy button
7. Click close.
5. How will you modify an existing style in MS Word 2007?
Answer: To modify an existing style in MS Word follow the steps:
1. Open the styles task pane and right click on the style that you want to modify.
2. Select Modify option from the drop down menu.
3. Click in the name box and type a new name.
4. Under the formatting section, choose the font type, font size, font style and font color.
5. You can also choose the required alignment.
6. Click on the ok button.
6. What are the various ways to insert an image in a Word document?
Answer: Images can be inserted into a document from various sources such as images stored on the computer's hard disk or external storage devices like pen drive, CD, DVD, camera, etc.
7. How will you insert an image saved as a file on the computer into a Word document?
Answer: To insert an image in word from computer follow the steps:
1. Click on Insert tab
2. Click on picture option.
3. Select your desired image.
4. Click on insert option.
8. What do you mean by rotating and flipping an image?
Answer: Rotating means to rotate an image 90 or 180 degrees in the clockwise or anti-clockwise direction to change its view on the screen.
Flipping means you can flip or mirror an image vertically or horizontally in a document. When you flip the image horizontally, the left side becomes the right side and to flip the image vertically changes the top to bottom.
9. What do you understand by cropping an image? Write steps to crop an image using size dialog box.
Answer: Cropping is the removal of unwanted outer areas from an image. Sometimes you may want to remove the unnecessary periphery of an image and put its middle part in a document.
Cropping image using size dialog box:
1. Open the document and right click the image that you want to crop.
2. From the shortcut menu that appears select the size option.
3. To crop the image from left, right, top and bottom use the up and down arrows to alter values in corresponding boxes in the crop from section.
4. When satisfied with the cropped area click on the close button.
10. How will you draw shapes or objects in a Word document?
Answer: MS Word allows you to draw shapes or objects in Word document.
To insert shapes in Word follow the steps:
1. Click on insert tab
2. Click on shapes button in the illustration group.
3. Select the shape that you want to insert.
4. Click the mouse left button and drag the mouse to draw the shape.
11. What is text wrapping? Discuss any two text wrapping options that help you to position an image with the text in a document.
Answer: The Wrap setting determines the relation between the text and the graphic.
It helps to set text around the graphic in different ways.
In Line with Text Wrap: By default an object has in line with text wrap setting. The object is inserted in the lines of text as word considers it as character. When you type, the object moves along with the text.
Square Wrap: The square wrap option helps to set the text around the square or rectangular boundary of the object, leaving a consistent gap between the text and the image.
12. What do you mean by grouping of objects? Write steps to group and ungroup objects in a Word document.
Answer: Grouping drawing objects makes it easier to handle several objects as a single entity, while preserving their relative size and positions. When objects are grouped, any editing operations carried out on that group are applied to all members of the group.
1. Select one object, then hold down the shift/ctrl key and select the others you want to include in the group.
2. After selecting the objects, open the format tab and click on the group button in the arrange group.
3. Select group option from the drop-down menu. Right click on any of the selected objects and then select grouping -Group option from the context menu.
13. How will you rotate an image inserted in word by any required angle?
Answer: To rotate an image follow the steps:
1. Select the required image and open the format tab.
2. In the arrange group, click on the rotate button.
3. Select rotate right 90 degree option to rotate the image 90 degree clockwise.
14. Write steps to fill a color in a shape that you have drawn using the shape tool.
Answer: To fill color in a shape follow the steps:
1. Select the shape
2. Right click on shape border, a drop-down list will be appear.
3. Click on Format auto shape.
4. Select the color
5. Click on ok button.
15. How will you resize an image in a document proportionately?
Answer: To resize an image in a document follow the steps:
1. Click and select the image to show the sizing handles around it.
2. Position the pointer over one of the sizing handles.
3. Click and drag to resize the image in the indicated direction.
4. Release the mouse button when satisfied with the new size.
