2. Name and explain four ecological disruptions that are man made.
Answer: Four ecological disruptions are:
Pollution(Air, Water, Soil): Air pollution is responsible for chronic health problems for many people. There are many causes of air pollution, such as industries and factories emitting harmful gases, vehicular traffic in urban areas, increased greenhouse gases, etc.
Deforestation and Soil Erosion: Felling of trees due to increased deforestation results in loss of natural resources as well as loss of protective barrier for topsoil which is a major cause of soil erosion.
Loss of Biodiversity: Loss of biodiversity is a reduction in the variety of plant and animal species (due to extinction of some species of plants and animals). The biodiversity of an area can decrease as a result of urbanization, pollution, poaching and expanding agriculture.
Waste Generation: As per a world bank report, Around the world, waste generation rates are rising.....with rapid population growth and urbanization, annual waste generation is expected to be 3.40 billion tones in 2050.

3. What is e-waste? Why has it assumed importance in recent years?
Answer: E-waste is the waste that is generated from used electronic devices and household appliances which are not fit for their original intended use. With the advancement in technology and increased usage of more gadgets, the e-waste has grown significantly and needs to be addressed.

4. What are the four RS of waste management?
Answer: Good waste management follows the 4 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover, as well as avoiding illegal dumping and littering. Did you know that the 4 Rs can help us to find better ways to manage our litter? You can REUSE by finding ways to use things again that you would normally throw away.

5. Name any two ways of conserve each of the following:
a. Air        b. Water            c. Land                d. Energy

They include reducing vehicular emissions by promoting use of cleaner vehicles, use of green fuels and encouragement to use public transport, regulating industrial emissions as they are emitting large amount of pollutants into the air.
b. Water: It is important to reduce wastage of water, improve water management and conservation practices such as rainwater harvesting and waste water treatment, so that there is enough water for the present as well as for the future generations.
c. Land: Conserving land is important for it helps in preserving farms and forests, protecting wildlife habitat and biodiversity, reducing air and water pollution, preventing soil erosion and improving soil quality, reducing the negative impacts of flooding, helping in reduction of greenhouse gases.
d. Energy: It is also important to be responsible energy users. Turning off lights, fans, air conditioners and other gadgets and appliances, using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.
