Formatting a Worksheet, Home Tab Features in MS Excel:

FORMATTING A WORKSHEET:
MS Excel has the features of formatting a worksheet. For formatting a worksheet, there are different tabs available. Some tabs are Home tab, Insert tab, Page layout tab, Formula tab etc. Each tab consist different groups and each group has several options. These options are used to formatting a worksheet in MS Excel.

Home Tab Features for Formatting a Worksheet:
Clipboard Group: Clipboard Group has some options like Copy, Cut, Format Painter and Paste.
  • Copy: It is used to copy the selected cells. It makes another copy of the selected cells.
  • Cut: It is used to cut the selected cells. It moves the selected cells into another location.
  • Paste: It is used to paste the copied or cut cells on other locations.
  • Format Painter: It is used to copy formatting from one place and apply the same formatting to multiple places in the document.
Font Group: Font Group has some options like Font Face, Font Size, Font Colour, Increase Font Size, Decrease Font Size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Bottom Border and Fill Colour.  
  §  Font Face: It is used to change font-face or font style.
  §  Font Size: It is used to change the size of a text.
  §  Font Colour: It is used to change the text colour.
  §  Increase Font Size: It is used to increase the font size.
  §  Decrease Font Size: It is used to decrease the font size.
  §  Bold: It is used to change a text into bold letters.
  §  Italic: It is used to change a text into italic.
  §  Underline: It is used to make underline.
  §  Border: It is used to make a border around the cells. It is used to make border-bottom, up, right, left, all border etc.
  §  Fill Colour: Colour the background of selected cells.

Alignment Group: Alignment group has the following options:
§  Top Align: It is used to set the text top align in the cell.
§  Middle Align: It is used to set the text middle align in the cell.
§  Bottom Align: It is used to set the text bottom align in the cell.
§  Left Align: It is used to set the text left align in the cell.
§  Center Align: It is used to set the text center align in the cell.
§  Right Align: It is used to set the text right align in the cell.
§  Decrease Indent: It is used to decrease the margin between the border and the text in the cell.
§  Increase Indent: It is used to increase the margin between the border and the text in the cell.
§ Orientation: It is used to rotate a text to a diagonal angle or vertical orientation.
§  Wrap Text: It is used to make all content visible within a cell by displaying it on multiple lines.
§  Merge and Center: It is used to joins the two selected cells into one larger cell and centers the contents in the new cell.
Number Group: Number group has various categories like number, currency, date, time, accounting, fraction, percentage, etc. Number group helps to choose how the values in a cell are displayed: as a percentage, as date, as time, as a currency, etc.
Styles Group: Styles group has three features i.e. conditional formatting, Format as table, Cell styles.
§  Conditional Formatting: It is used to highlight interesting cells, emphasize unusual values, visualize data using data bar, colour scales, and icon sets based on criteria.
§  Format as Table: It is used to quickly format a range of cells and convert it to a table by choosing a pre-defined table style.
§  Cells Styles: It is used to quickly format a cell by choosing from pre-defined styles.
Cells Group: Cells group has three features i.e. Insert, Delete, and Format.
§  Insert: It is used to insert cells, rows, columns into the sheet, and insert sheet into a workbook.
§  Delete: It is used to delete cells, rows, columns from the sheet, and delete a sheet from the workbook.
§  Format: It is used to change the row height or column width, organize sheets or protect or hide cells.
Editing Group: Editing group has the following features:
§  Auto sum: It is used to display the sum of selected cells directly after the selected cells.
§    Fill: It is used to continue a pattern into one or more adjacent cells.
§  Clear: It is used to delete everything from the cells, selectively remove the formatting, the contents, and the comments.
§  Sort & Filter: It is used to arrange that data in ascending or descending order, you temporally filter out specific values.
§  Find & Select: It is used to find and select specific text within a workbook.
Format Cells:
In MS Excel, there are many features for Cell formatting. Home Tab consists of Font, Alignment, Number, Styles, Cells, and Editing groups. These formatting options format a cell without affecting the actual value of data. They just affect the appearance of data on the worksheet to make it attractive and presentable. Selecting a cell and clicking the right mouse button gives a drop-down list of options to Format Cells.
Cell Alignment: 
Text in a cell can be aligned vertically and horizontally.
·         Horizontal alignment may be set text as Left, Center, Right, Fill, Justify etc.
·         Vertical alignment may be set text as Top, Bottom, Center, and Justify.
·         The text can be wrapped, shrunk to fit and cells can be merged into one cell.
·         Orientation is the angle at which the text is displayed and it rotates the text.
·       Row height option is used to increase or decrease the height of the selected rows in a worksheet.
·   Auto-fit Row Height changes the height of the row to default size in a worksheet.
·         Hide option hides the selected rows from the screen in a worksheet.
·         Unhide option again displays the hidden line in a worksheet.
