Answer: A chart is a graphical representation of data. They enhance the look of your worksheet and also present a large volume of data in easy format. Chart provide an effective way of presenting data and information. Generating chart can help in making comparison, taking decisions and forecasting weather reports.

Answer: There are 11 types of chart in MS Excel:

3. State the difference between a column chart and bar chart.
Answer: A column chart uses vertical bars or columns to display values over different categories. Column charts make it easy to see the differences in the data being compared.
Bar chart: Bar chart display comparisons among individual items. They organize the categories vertically and values horizontally. They are column charts drawn sideways.

4. What is a pie chart?
Answer: A pie chart displays the contribution of each value to the total. It highlights the relationship in terms of percentage of each value in a data series to whole.


5. What is a scatter chart? How is it different from a line chart?
Answer: Scatter chart: A scatter chart shows the relationship among the numeric values in several data series, or plots two groups of numbers as one series. It has two values axes, horizontal axis(X-axis) and another vertical axis(Y-axis).
Line chart: A line chart is useful for showing the change in a value over a period of time. Each of the data series is plotted as a line of different colour and shade.

6. How is chart area different from plot area?
Answer: Chart area: It is the area inside the chart window, including all parts of the chart are displayed.
Plot area: It is the area where excel plots your data, including the axes and all markers that represent data points.

Answer: It refers to many data entries from which a chart is derived.

8. Write the steps to create a chart.
Answer: To create a chart, perform the following steps:
1. Select the cell range in the worksheet for which you want to make a chart.
2. Click on the insert tab.
3. Click on column to insert a column chart.
4. Click on clustered column in 2-D column section.
5. Click on the design tab.
6. Select any of various design tools to help you design your chart.
